Meeting you where you are

I offer a range of garden design services for Yorkshire homeowners, from an initial £300 + VAT consultation through to full design, planting plans, and on-site planting supervision. Every project starts with listening.

Some clients arrive knowing exactly what they want. Others just know something isn't working, and aren't sure where to begin. Both are entirely fine.

From there, I offer a clear, unhurried path: a consultation first, then the level of design support that suits your situation. No package is pushed. No decision is needed until you're ready.

My approach is gentle but precise. I work with your soil, your light, and the reality of your life, not against any of them.

Choose your starting point

Bronze

The structural foundation of your garden: layout, levels, surfaces, boundaries, and materials, designed carefully and hand-drawn. Everything a landscaper needs, without the planting plan.

Ideal for those who enjoy choosing their own plants, or who want to develop a planting scheme independently.

Gold

The complete service. Design, planting plan, plant sourcing, and I'm on site to supervise the planting. From the first conversation to a finished garden, with nothing left to chance.

Perfect for those who want full support from blank paper to planted beds.

Learn about Gold

The planting plan was unlike anything I'd expected. Every plant was explained: not just what it was, but why it was there, what it would do through the year, and what I'd need to do with it. I came away feeling genuinely confident about the garden for the first time.

How a project works

  1. Garden Consultation

We meet at your garden. We walk through it together and talk about your ideas, concerns, and priorities. This is relaxed and exploratory. Nothing is decided during this visit unless you want it to be.

  2. Design

I develop your garden design: layout, structure, materials, levels, and surfaces. You'll see a concept first, then a developed design. We talk through adjustments before anything is finalised.

  3. Planting Plan

Once the structure is agreed, I work up the planting plan, choosing plants that suit your conditions, your time, and your wildlife preferences. Every species is chosen with intention and explained clearly.

  4. Build

You work with your chosen contractor, or I can suggest trusted local builders. For Gold package clients, I'm on site during planting to make sure everything goes in as intended.

Every plan I produce is drawn by hand. It's slower, and I wouldn't do it any other way. It's how the detail stays right, and how your garden stays yours.

Standalone planting plans

If your layout is already in place, I can design a planting plan for your existing garden, choosing plants that suit your specific conditions, maintenance preferences, and wildlife goals.

Working with a contractor to build your garden? I can also visit during the build to make sure the design intent is properly understood and faithfully carried out on site.

What my clients say

From the very first conversation, Sally was clear that she was designing for us, not for a photograph. She asked questions I hadn't thought to ask myself. The result is a garden we actually use.

— Richard T., Wetherby

Sally has a way of making you feel completely confident. She's seen every garden problem before, and she's calm about all of them. That calmness transfers.

— Jenny M., York

I expected a designer to push her own ideas. Sally was entirely focused on what would work for us. She was honest when something wouldn't work, and that honesty is worth a great deal.

Common questions about garden design

How much does a garden design cost?

My garden consultation is £300 + VAT. Design packages start from £2,000 + VAT, and a full design with a planting plan usually falls between £3,000 and £6,000 + VAT. Every package is a fixed price, so there are no surprises. There's more detail in my garden design FAQ.

Is a garden makeover worth the investment?

A well-designed garden adds real value to your home, and more importantly it gives you a space you actually use and enjoy. Because I design with maintenance in mind from the start, the garden keeps looking good for years rather than slipping back into hard work. That's usually where the real value lies.

Which package is right for me?

If you want the structure sorted and you're happy choosing plants yourself, Bronze is enough. If you'd like the planting handled properly too, most people choose Silver. If you'd like me to source the plants and oversee the planting on site, that's Gold. We can talk it through at your consultation.

Not sure which package is right for you?
