Who I am

What information I collect

When you submit the consultation enquiry form, I collect your name, email address, phone number (if provided), your town or village, a description of your garden, and how you heard about me. If you subscribe to the seasonal email list, I collect your email address. This website also collects anonymised usage data through Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies or track individual visitors. If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics also collects usage data, as described in the Cookies section below.

Why I collect it and the legal basis

I use your enquiry information to respond to your consultation request and to arrange a visit to your garden. The legal basis for this is legitimate interest (responding to a request you have made). If you subscribe to the seasonal email list, the legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email. Cookieless analytics data is collected under legitimate interest to understand how the website is being used. Google Analytics runs only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the Cookie choices link in the footer.

Who I share your data with

I do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Your enquiry form submissions are delivered to me via email. The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. The content management system is Storyblok. If you accept analytics cookies, usage data is also processed by Google Analytics. These services process data on my behalf and are GDPR-compliant.

How long I keep your data

Enquiry data is retained for 24 months from the date of your last contact with me. If an enquiry leads to a design project, project records are retained for six years in line with standard business practice. Email list subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data I hold about you. You also have the right to restrict or object to how I use your data, and to data portability. To make any of these requests, email me at sally@yorkshiregardendesigner.co.uk. I will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with how I handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Cookies

This website sets no optional cookies unless you say yes. Day-to-day visitor counting is done by Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and collects no personal information.

With your consent, I also use Google Analytics to understand which pages people find useful. It sets cookies whose names begin with _ga, and they last up to two years. You choose when you first visit the site, and you can change your mind at any time using the Cookie choices link at the bottom of every page. If you say no, or say nothing, Google Analytics stays off.

The map on the contact page is provided by Google Maps. It only loads if you press the Load the map button, and Google may set its own cookies when it does.

Cloudflare may use strictly necessary cookies for security and performance purposes, such as protecting the site from bots. These do not require consent under UK law.

Changes to this policy

I may update this privacy policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
